Successful Presidential Elections

Academy grade one class

Praise God for the successful outcome to the often tense and unpredictable national elections in Ghana! After several weeks of uncertainty, the final election results were accepted by all parties, and peace has prevailed in most of the nation. The former opposition party captured a majority in Parliament, along with the Presidency. Thank you for your many prayers and intercessions on behalf of Ghana during the past few months.

I (Rick) was privileged to receive a special invitation from the new President, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, to attend the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service held at Independence Square in Accra on Sunday February 1st. It was encouraging to see President Mills, the Speaker of Parliament, the Chief Justice of the Ghana Supreme Court, and other government leaders joining in prayer for Ghana and in praise to God for His hand on the nation.

We live in a time of great opportunity for Christ in Ghana. Please continue to pray for peace here, and for ongoing open doors for the spread of Christ's Kingdom in this beautiful land. There are still pockets of violence related to politics - recently 30 buildings were burned in a section of Accra called Agbogbloshie. Ask God to grant wisdom to all Ghana's leaders, and that they will look to God to guide them in their decisions. Pray that God will raise up Ghana in even greater ways as a light and blessing to Africa.

Pray for Maybel Cudjoe

aabs

Several months ago we asked for prayer for Maybel Cudjoe, one of our dear care-givers at Agape Children's Home. Maybel is suffering from kidney failure and is in need of a miracle of healing. Her condition has continued to deteriorate, and the doctors have now decided she is too sick to undergo dialysis. Apart from God's intervention there is nothing more the medical community can do. Please continue to intercede for Maybel and ask God to heal her. Pray for the Agape boys she was caring for, as well as for Maybel's zzown three children, that God will strengthen them. Pray for Maybel to have the faith to believe God for her need, and the courage to accept His will.

[UPDATE]: In March, Maybel went home to be with the Lord. We are deeply saddened at losing her, but we rejoice that she is in the presence of her Savior.

Agape Church is Moving and Growing

Hearts Aflame YouthThe last month at the Agape church in East Legon has been amazing! God is meeting us in every service with His presence. The church is growing rapidly, with new souls being saved and many lives rededicated to Christ. At a recent night of worship, several responded to the invitation to surrender to the Lord Jesus. There was such a mighty move of God, none of us wanted to leave when the program ended!

Our church is moving March 1st to a new meeting hall that is about three times our present meeting space. Pray for the move to go smoothly. Ask the Lord to continue to pour our His Spirit on the church. Ask God to establish the new converts in the faith, and to keep building the faith of the older members. Our target for this month is to reach 500 in attendance on Sunday. Our focus is on the lost and those on the nearby college campuses. Please join us in praying that the revival God has promised will come in fullness to the Agape Church in East Legon.

A Bible-training Milestone is Reached

We've reached a milestone - there are now 100 Agape Bible schools in West Africa! Our newest school is in Adenta, a suburb of Accra. We've been praying for many years for a greater increase in this dynamic training program. Now, God is multiplying our numbers and bringing in hundreds more students to study His Word and prepare for ministry. The fruit of this training program will continue to grow till the Lord comes again. Please join us in praising God for this great answer to prayer. Ask the Lord to continue to add to the number of our students and schools as we reach out to new locations. Pray for greater anointing on the Directors and teachers at all 100 Agape Bible schools. Seek the Lord for a new zeal for soul-winning and church planting to grip the hearts of all our students.

2009 is off to a great start! With God's help and yours, the best is yet to come!
